Small ways of joy

I grab my pipe,

cross my legs, nod and

ponder my son's musings.

I dance like a sprinkler

and water the garden

with laughter.

I land in the same spot

with alien eyes

and am mesmerized

by a pair of glasses.

I sing mantras and canticles

and repaint my house

anew.

I exclaim love

to the heavily pruned plants

and watch them bloom

in due time.

I sit on the couch

and purr as you

brush my hair.

to be continued ...
